League Options

Join a Continuously-Running League (currently this is our only option). Here's why you should consider getting a team in a league that's already running:

  • Our system was designed for this kind of league. It adds a fiscal management aspect to your decision making.

  • You can build new parks, sign multi-season contracts, trade for draft picks, and much more.

  • In a continuously-running league, open franchises will almost always be 'orphaned', a term we use to refer to a team that was owned previously by someone else. Before we give you an orphaned team we get it ready for you by changing the terms of players contracts so that all but the superstars (if you have any) can be released to waivers. That enables you to build more quickly a team of your own design. And, we always secure your team's financial accounts! When you take an orphaned team it will usually be one of the richest franchises. Remember that our leagues are long-haul challenges. But that also makes for rich rewards.

  • You can get started with your team right away! if you are a new member, you may also get special rights to players unavailable to established owners (provided league configuration allows this).

Pace of Play, Competition Level, and League Configurations

Our leagues run at different paces. Our Aaron League, for example, plays games 7 days per week. By contrast, our Campbell League runs only once per week. To find out how often a league runs, click on a league and examine the league brief. Take note also of the competitive index (the higher the number the more competitive the league). That will give you some idea whether you'll be playing against experienced veterans or not.

On the league brief (use the main menu to find a select a league) you can also view the current configuration settings for the league. Because of the philosophical convictions are our founders, our game never uses the DH. However, there are a number of configuration settings that change from one league to the next. For example, our leagues may or may not utilize the following:

  • The Old-Timers’ Fraternity
  • Draft Pick Trading
  • Special Player Rights
  • Supplemental Draft
  • 25-Man Roster Limit
  • Reveal Players' Random Seasons
  • Voting Privileges to changing the League Configuration Settings

To join a league and install a team, you must first register at this site. Once you register and confirm your email address, download the software and request your league! If you are already in the NSB system as a paying member, you can join more leagues so long as your membership type allows. If you play on a free membership, you are restricted to a single team.

A Few Ground Rules

  1. No member may own more than one team in the same league.
  2. Orphaned teams come with a pre-specified ball park, the set of draft picks possessed by the previous owner. These realities cannot be changed.
  3. Any teams not installed within 72 hours after registration may be re-possessed by the league.
  4. Any team left unattended for 30 calendar days will be available on the NSB market.
